The beauty, complexity and vitality of its rock art has few parallels in prehistoric American art. The exhibition “TAIRA: The Dawn of Art in Atacama”&nbsp; is the product of more than 30 years of anthropological research. Art and Science are put together in the Museo de Arte Precolombino, in the very heart of Santiago. Through multimedia devices at the service of sensory stimulation and communication objectives, the experience of this archaeological site and its narratives are brought&nbsp; to the visitors. They can contemplate the engravings and paintings of Taira as a sublime manifestation of the dawn of art in Atacama and, at the same time, as a fascinating foray into its comprehension. Taira seeks to share the beauty of the site, and consider its extreme fragility as cultural heritage, and to gain an understanding of the meanings and purpose of the creators of this works 2500 years ago. For this exhibition I lead the design and production. installation/performance that explores the politics of remembering and belonging within the context of Québec's tourist industry, engaging with the souvenir as archive and medium. LGWN opens a space for reflecting upon and challenging the aestheticization, commodification, and reductionist simplification of the Quebec experience that is projected by the images sustained by souvenir objects. The installation investigates them as cultural artifacts that double as an archive of the myths of the past and a tool in building the imagined present. During 6 weeks, the space was open to the public, who could design and create their own mugs, as a collective attempt at remembering otherwise.&nbsp;The installation-boutique offered a first corpus of original souvenir mugs created by the artists that remix and re-imagine the iconic images that have historically been used in the branding of Quebec culture. Developed in collaboration with the writer and artist Sophie Kuijper Dickson, Le Great White North was exhibited at TOPO Laboratory for Digital Writings, Montreal, from Sep 6th to Oct 18th, 2019. wearable artifact that seeks to “question the surface of a visual world”i by expanding our aural perception. The artifact allows us to discover the unapparent frequencies, sounds and signals that surround us, and to interact with them as me move in space. BICHO is an analytical and a musical instrument, as it involves creative audio production and spatial exploration. As we move, “hidden frequencies“ can be discovered and manipulated. Beyond its musical possibilities, BICHO addresses the affective and political aspects of sound. Sound connects us with the exterior world, and strongly impacts our relations with human and more-than-human entities, and with the environment. By prompting an augmented physical experience of site, this artifact allows us to actively intervene in the production of space, as co-habitants within this augmented soundscape. In this way, this project seeks to highlight and engage with the realm of the affects in/of sound. In parallel, Bicho inquires about sound and other waves as a fundamental elements in the shaping and reshaping of social space. It is in the psychological, social, organic unity of the ‘perceiver’ who is oriented towards the perceived, which is to say towards objects, towards surroundings and towards other people, that the rhythms that compose this unity are given” Henri Lefebvre, 2004 *Cope:code* is a multi-location performance and collaboration with the scholar Niels Jørgen Gommesen. The project explores and experiments with rhythms and sounds of everyday practices that have emerged during the coronavirus pandemic, as a way to establish new affirmative relationships.&nbsp; The artists will collect footage from friends to create an audiovisual piece that explores the affective dimensions of rhythm.Since the outbreak of the pandemic, we’ve all been forced to adjust ourselves to new rhythms. By necessity – be it material, physical, spiritual or of any kind –, in order to cope with the current conditions, we have started to engage with new activities, and new sounds and rhythms have become part of our sonic environment. Carefully listening and playfully engaging with them, the emerging patterns and rhythms offer the possibility to speculate about sonic futures, coming into being as a result of mutual exchanges of sound and interactions across time and borders.&nbsp; Through coding and exploration of patterns in TidalCycles, “a language environment for exploring algorithmic pattern - Alex McLean”, and through sampling, beat-mapping, and analog sound synthesis and processing, the aim of the performance is to communicate and interact, with and through each others’ everyday rhythms, and make different sounds and sonic environments resonate and communicate with each other. Some of the questions we are trying to shed a light on through our explorations: what happens when we make different locations and milieus communicate with each other through sound and listening?&nbsp; How can this network collaboration help to nurture new collaborative practices for making and exploring sonic patterns and music, for listening and rethinking relations between sound, place and body? How are sonic bodies enacted and materialized through our situated, connected yet distanced bodies? What musical possibilities do these interactions foster? While influenced by old-time AM radio love tunes, folklore, and early-synth experimental music, ismos’ lyrical stylings and metrics are a tribute to&nbsp; Chilean and Latin-American folklore. ismos’ first album&nbsp;Ficciones&nbsp; is a collection of seven songs that bring together lyrical elements from the “canto a lo poeta” – a tradition from the central valleys of Chile–, and Latinamerican poetry. Within the forms of pop music, Ficciones proposes ethereal atmospheres that come from 80’s synthezisers and field recording. Migratoria explores how the ideas of community, belonging, and territory operate in these platforms, and reflects on some underlying discourses in the dynamics of physical and virtual self-presentation (and the encounter of both!), pair-surveillance, and mediation. When I arrived to Montreal in 2018, I spent almost two months looking for a place to live, making an intense use of a number of searching tools, sites and sharing economy platforms, biking over 400km and invading many strangers’ intimate spaces. As a newcomer, I was permanently confronted with patterns of discrimination, and measured against a new normativity. NDP@H seeks to question and subvert the complex figure between contemporary global socio-territorial conflicts, mass media, domestic space and our discipline. NDP@H proposes to re-explore the enormous communicative capacity of architecture through a hand-made domestic-television format, in order to construct critical narratives about the most relevant territorial conflicts. Their&nbsp; ideas became prominently influential during Pinochet’s dictatorship, allowing for the developement of experimental neoliberal policies which deeply&nbsp;configurate Chilean society and cities today. In the context of the first Chicago Architecture Biennial, ESPECULOPOLIS exposed four ”urban crimes“ - four specific territories from Santiago de Chile - to visualize&nbsp; an historical process, offering an opportunity for open discussion and reflection. During 2 weeks, TOMA installed its office at the Chicago Architecture Biennial, and developed three collective actions: Cases Parliament: A scene filled with characters: historical facts and relevant actors that builds up a territorial cosmogony over the last 50 years. Speculative Tribune: A collective newspaper. It contains reflections on the contemporary city, declassified documents, comments about the biennial, speculations about possible post-neoliberal cities, photo reportages, etc. The Evidence Board and Archive: gathers information detailing the history of neoliberalism in Santiago de Chile and in the world. design development and the educational program of the organization. Here, artisans and craftsmen share their knowledge through hands-on public workshops. Tables, chairs and storage systems were crafted from steel, pine board and native wood. The artisanal spirit of the building process is reflected in the finished pieces, while they also fulfill the various needs of each workshop’s differing techniques and materials. The tables and cabinets are movable, and the chairs are stackable.
